Weekly Filet #232: The future of humankind. And more.
1. Yuval Harari, author of «Sapiens» on AI, religion, and 60-day meditation retreats (The Ezra Klein Show)
Can humans expect empathy from superintelligent entities once they are here? What does it mean when your doctor is an algorithm? And what will people do when there is no more work for them – or will there? A super interesting talk with Yuval Harari, the author of «Sapiens» and now «Homo Deus». So many takeaways, but what instantly stuck with me: how he describes religion as a virtual reality game. (for more on the future of work, specifically, have a look at my previous recommendations on the topic)
2. The Dutch Donald Trump wasn’t stopped, he was copied (De Correspondent)
«Geert Wilders is this election’s real winner» – Amsterdam-based Rutger Bregman argues why the Dutch election results shouldn't be misinterpreted as a setback for far-right populism.
3. Adna – Thoughts 🎶
Swedish Singer/Songwriter Adna is releasing her latest album «Closure» today. The song I instantly fell in love with: «Thoughts». Also, long gone the days when I discovered great music all on my own. My little sister is now telling me about all the good stuff (sometimes Spotify, too, but mostly my sister, really).
4. There Really Was A Liberal Media Bubble (FiveThirtyEight)
Another great piece in Nate Silver's «The Real Story of 2016» series.
5. Helvetia by Night 360°
Stunning. A timelapse video of Swiss lakes and cities and mountains, in 360° – you're automagically drawn to the night sky.
