«The Tortilla Curtain» by TC Boyle
A story about a liberal middle class couple spiraling into unreasonable xenophobia – sounds like a good read for our time. – mmmatze

«The Legend of the Holy Drinker» by Joseph Roth
Not a word too much. Roth tells his tale and leaves it to stand or fall on its own merits. Lots of books stay with you for a long time after you’ve read them, but this one has never let me go. Joseph Roth is a great read. – Philippe Welti

«Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind» by Yuval Noah Harari
The first 150 pages of this book simply blew my mind away. It is a ferocious ride through the history of homo sapiens that looks at major shifts that got us where we are. The fact you are seeing this on a computer seems so much more improbable after reading this book, knowing the turns history took. – Florian Stambula

«The Road» by Cormac McCarthy
Simple in its form, simple sentences, simple words - still, emotionally very powerful. You immerse in the story totally, getting at times depressed, at times warm at heart. Most say it ends up sadly, I say it ends optimistically. It's not 1-dimensional and isn't that what's best about books? – Beata

«Thinking, Fast and Slow» by Daniel Kahneman
Hardly a week goes by that I'm not reminded of something I read in this classic. Changed the way I think about thinking. – David Bauer (Yes, that's me. Hi! 👋)
